Goalkeeper gloves: DO NOT SPIT!!

Posted by ZPro Futbol gloves staff on Sep 20th 2017

There are a large number of young amateur goalkeepers who SPIT on the gloves, their thinking is that spit makes the glove STICKY.   Well, not only that's a terrible idea but it also the spit will eventually make the glove have the most HORRIBLE smell that you can imagine, & the smell that is almost impossible to get rid of.

Think about this, when you spit on the floor, this spit will dry out and turns into a light white DUST, this acid will eat up the glove latex and eventually the glove WILL lose its permanent Grip.   If you lose grips on gloves, you pretty much have nothing to catch the balls.  In fact, you should be MORE concerned about the life of the gloves than spitting on the glove to only gain short-lived results.....This is a VERY terrible habits that does not work and will be costly in the long run

Furthermore, have you been next to a goalkeeper that has very STINKY gloves? it is absolutely terrible experience. This is what is bad about this habit, you can wash your glove as many time as you need but  after many spits, the smell of your own spit combined  with you natural sweaty hands, makes your have a PERMANENT smells.

Oblivion gloves & Gold Cup special editionHere is what we recommend:

First, take your bottle of water by your goal during matches or training. Throw some water on the glove and keep it MOIST but NOT SOAKED....basically, keep your palm latex CLEAN.

Second:  you could also use a DAMP towel to constantly clean your gloves after every play if you want.   This will keep all the dust & dirt OFF the palm and will help with the stickiness of the glove.

Last,  if you use these two techniques, your glove will last you for a LONG TIME, your parents & your pockets will thank you.  Some people use SPECIAL SPRAYS & other chemicals but honestly, it cost money to do that and in reality, this is just ANOTHER thing you have to worry about & buy. So go NATURAL, it has worked for more than 50 yrs and it does not fail.  Water and or a Damp towel, that's it.
